Community Education

The Task Force For the Homeless provides information to our community on the causes and status of homelessness in Sonoma County, and helps people finds ways to participate in effective solutions.

The Task Force provides speakers for schools, service organizations, and other community groups. If your organization would like someone to speak about homelessness, please contact the Task Force office at 575-4494, or sctfhmls@pacbell.net.

Task Force members write opinion pieces, letters, make personal appearances, and offer data to local media regarding homelessness and local efforts to end it.

The Task Force is available to lead group tours of homeless shelters and services for interested members of the public, often including meeting and hearing from homeless or formerly homeless people. To sign up for a future tour, please contact the Task Force office at 575-4494, or sctfhmls@pacbell.net.

We encourage anyone interested in homelessness, from any point of view, to submit articles, letters to the editor, or personal stories for the Dialogue section of our quarterly Task Force Reporter newsletter. See our Editorial Guidelines for information on how to submit material.

THE EDUCATION COMMITTEE of the Task Force For the Homeless develops plans and materials, gathers personal stories and evaluation data to demonstrate program successes, and is constructing a map of homeless services and shelter in the county. It solicits input for the Task Force Reporter newsletter and the Task Force web site, and encourages media coverage, speaking engagements, and community dialogue on housing and homelessness. The Committee is looking for a new chairperson. To get involved, contact the Task Force office at 575-4494 or sctfhmls@pacbell.net,or Nancy Lisk: sanctuaryproject@hotmail.com.
